Laken joined us for a night on the town last Saturday night. Our AZ family (aka Mike and Jenn) met us for dinner and drinks at an italian restaurant in Scottsdale. This is the first time that Laken met Mike as he was in Florida for his last clinical rotation. We are so thankful to have them here in AZ with us and know we have made lasting friendships with them. Laken slept through the entire outing;)

*I am excited that daddy is home every night now.
*Despite my parents efforts, on occasion I use a pacifier.....it comforts me.
*My hair is filling in the front.
*I still have my days and nights mixed up.
*I turn towards people's voices and listen to conversations.
*I've been practicing holding my head up and am gaining strength.

Laken and I are getting out of the house to meet with our mommy and me group once a week. Here is a picture of the group meeting today at the coffee shop across the lake from our place. We can't wait for the babies to interact more as they grow. For now these play dates are more for mommies to down a cup of coffee and enjoy conversation with people who talk back ;)
Laken is quit the character! We are enjoying her every move and she seems to change every day. Right now she sleeps the majority of the time and it seems like in most of her photos she is doing what she does best....sleeping! I can't wait to make a scrapbook page titled, "Sleeping Beauty." She also likes to eat and has made it clear that nursing is on her schedule. Right now we are waking up every 2 and half to 3 hours at night. But once she is done breastfeeding she goes back to sleep. She also enjoys her nightly baths, as long as they are with mom or in the sink. She still does not care for her baby bathtub and I think we are giving up on it. She likes what she likes.......she is her mothers daughter;) She also enjoys play time and her toy gym seems to be the favorite at this time. She swats at the toys and every once in a while grabs onto the rings! We were surprised that she is able to do this. We have also been going for short walks across the pond to the farmers market and coffee shop.....she loves this and usually stays awake for it now! She is looking forward to Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Gary's visit tomorrow!
Laken is 3 weeks old in this picture. This past week she had another pediatrician appointment and now weighs 6 lbs 8 ounces! This is a big milestone now that she has passed her birth weight. Chase is finishing up the last few weeks of clinicals in Flagstaff. He has a hard time being away each week. This picture was taken last night when he got home. The first thing he does when he walks through the door is pick her up!
Today Laken is 2 weeks old. Where has the time gone? I want to cherish every moment with this sweet angel and can not believe how the time had flown by. This has been the most memorable time of our lives and I am excited for each new day with Laken Rain, but for now we could use a few more hours to each day with her!
